Party with a purpose
November 2011,
Advertising Media Association of South Africa (AMASA), the non profit body that has been at the forefront of media education and training in South Africa, hosted their year end function the past weekend in Lonehill.
The primary focus of AMASA is to educate of people with an interest in the media, marketing and advertising industry, with a view to improving knowledge and skill in media decision making techniques and their use.
AMASA attributes their success on the group of people that believe in the organisation and its values: “Obviously our continued success hinges on the existence of a strong and motivated membership. “
Every year AMASA hosts a themed year end function where their members and attending companies are encouraged to donate children’s toys and help raise funds for the AMASA Learnership Programme. With the high unemployment rate and education fees being expensive and inaccessible for most South Africans, this is one way the media industry can contribute in developing the youth of our country.
AMASA has also teamed up with other commercial educational organisations like the AAA School of Advertising, and currently is responsible for the development and examination of the media management modules for this organisation through its member body and for the actual delivery of lectures and workshops.
At this year’s the attendees pulled out the stops in their Halloween costumes, partying with a purpose. The toys collected will be donated to the Little Switzerland Children’s Home, just in time for Christmas.
As 2011 is coming to and end and a new year begins, what are you doing to help another get closer to realising their dreams? Think about it. Then do something about it.
