Another Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs showdown at Soccer City Stadium
September 2011,
Kaizer Chiefs played Orlando Pirates in the PSL match at Soccer City stadium on Saturday 17 September.
As usual the two league favourites entertained their supporters, featuring their star players, like Lucky Baloyi for AmaKoshi and Oupa Manyisa for Bucs.
Kaizer Chiefs secured their win in the first half with the first goal from a free kick taken by Bernard Parker. The second goal was scored by Bafana Bafana favourite and 2010 World Cup first goals scorer Simphiwe Tshabalala. The second half saw no goals, with Kaizer Chiefs defending most of the 45 minutes, as they have lost all their cup matches against Pirates, except for the Telkom cup.
Pirates scored their only goal during added time, at 93 minutes, with a header from Happy Jele.
Primedia Outdoor hosted a number of guests at this premier battle, with the partisan camps amongst them, championing their respective heroes with the inevitable bias and diehard loyalty of football fans the world over.
In other leagues matches of the day, Super Sport United and Jomo Cosmos played a two all draw.
