marketing and selling of outdoor advertising signage. The

Primedia Outdoor's vision is to become
the premier provider of outdoor advertising signage, delivering
significant returns to all shareholders.
Primedia Outdoor is currently the largest wholly South
African owned outdoor advertising media specialist with
over 15 000 advertising panels across the country. The
company offers national outdoor exposure across a mix of
media types, providing flexible coverage of the entire
LSM spectrum:
These media types span the rural communities of Limpopo and
Eastern Cape to more cosmopolitan communities in major urban
areas. The Primedia Outdoor reach also includes specialised
locations such as all ACSA managed airports.
Unlike other media types, we are also the owners of the advertising
mediums (in this case, advertising signs). However our key
competency and the reason for our existence is the marketing
of our media space. We have a fully trained and professional
sales team that sells both directly and indirectly to the advertisers.
As a national outdoor advertising signage company we work with
all of the leading advertising agencies in Durban, Cape Town
and Johannesburg.

Primedia Outdoor Background
Primedia Outdoor is a division of Primedia
(Pty) Ltd. This entity was established on 1 October 2007
following the de-listing of Primedia Ltd from the Johannesburg
Stock Exchange. Primedia
(Pty) Ltd can trace its origins back to 1994 and the subsequent
listing of Primedia Ltd on the JSE Securities Exchange.
Today, Primedia
(Pty) Ltd is a leading South African media group whose
vision is to become a world-class media company. The company
has an established portfolio of businesses that cover advertising,
broadcasting, film-entertainment and one-on-one marketing.
As a division of Primedia
(Pty) Ltd, Primedia Outdoor is able to engage in large-scale
projects whose benefits are often realised only in the long
term. Historically, we have used our own resources to finance
such projects. Additionally, our understanding of the South
African market and industry trends has allowed us to develop
financial planning tools that help us to ensure that our projects
are of superior quality, delivered on schedule, within budget
and, once rolled out, profitable.
In July 2010 Steve Ratlou, Executive Chairman of Primedia Out
of Home appointed Michael de Charmoy as COO of Primedia Outdoor.
In March 2011 Michael took on the role as Primedia Outdoor
CEO.
In recent years, Primedia Outdoor successfully implemented
the following projects:
- Introduction of exciting innovations in the form of scrolling
billboards and plasma screens. These units are located
in environmentally sensitive areas where the objective
is to utilise technology to support surrounding amenities.
- Launch of a new type of shelter in Johannesburg to cater
for taxi commuters who account for about 70% of all road
users in most major metropolitan areas today.
- We are currently managing more than 3000 shelters for
and on behalf of various local authorities.
- Building of advertising gantries in Johannesburg in support
of the 1999 All Africa Games.
Primedia Outdoor Black Economic Empowerment
Primedia Outdoor was recently rated as a BBB Level Five Contributor
by Empowerdex, an independent Economic Empowerment Rating Agency,
and received 80% procurement recognition. Click here for a

Primedia Outdoor improved its 2007 rating for Employment Equity
from a D to a B, and its Black Management rating from a C to
an A. Outdoor also maintained its A level CSI status, scoring
five out of five in the category for its Tswelopele
project. Tswelopele is a dynamic initiative that creates
jobs and empowers previously disadvantaged women through the
recycling of Primedia Outdoor's billboard flex faces into a
range of sophisticated products.
